Our 2027 diary is already filling up, and the popular Saturdays are going first, as they always do.
After seven years of caring for dogs at weddings across Cornwall and Devon, we've learnt that the couples whose days run most smoothly are almost always the ones who booked early. Not because we treat them any differently, but because time lets us do the job properly.
Why more couples are including their dogs
There are now around 13.5 million dogs in the UK, living in roughly a third of all households. For most of those families, the dog isn't a pet so much as a member of the household, and leaving them out of the biggest day of the year feels wrong.
So couples are finding ways to include them. Walking down the aisle, carrying the rings, standing in the family photographs, or simply being there. What's changed isn't how much people love their dogs. It's that including them has stopped feeling like an odd thing to want.
What a dog nanny actually does for your day
Your guests get to be guests. Nobody has to skip your vows to take the dog out, or eat their meal with one eye on a lead. The people you invited get to enjoy the wedding you invited them to.
Specialist care, not general pet care. Weddings are all we do, and have been since 2019. We know when to take a dog out, how long they can comfortably manage in a busy room, and what usually goes wrong before it does.
Care shaped around your dog. An excitable puppy, a nervous rescue and a confident old family dog all need very different days. We can arrange a pre-meet for anxious dogs, build in proper settling time at the venue, and make sure there's a quiet space to retreat to.
Fully insured and pet first aid trained. With a first aid kit in the bag at every wedding.
Why booking early is worth it
Weddings are expensive and every supplier tells you to book early, so it's fair to ask what the difference actually is.
For us it's this. Booking ahead means we have time to learn about your dog before we meet them, rather than working it out on the morning. We can arrange a pre-meet if your dog is nervous. We can talk through what role suits them, and gently say if something you'd imagined might not be comfortable for them, while there's still time to plan something else.
It also means you get the date you want. We only take one wedding a day per nanny, because that's the only way to do this properly, and Saturdays through the summer go early.
